Jim’s fervor for photography began in his early years when he borrowed his mother’s camera. The sheer joy of capturing images through the lens escalated during high school when his uncle lent him a German-made Leica II camera. The summer after graduating from high school he literally spent every waking moment at the local library reading every book he could get his hands on about photography. The photography bug was forever in his blood.

Jim proceeded to take photography courses at the University of Miami and took his first job with a commercial and advertising photographer. The course of his life was set.

Through the years, Jim has captured memories with a keen sense of the moment as a portrait studio photographer, a special events photographer (Carriage trade, weddings, Bar Mitzvahs), a commercial photographer and an underwater photographer.

A salient point in his career was the Yearbook Photography. Over a period of 10 years, Jim honed his skills in shooting all kinds of sports and captured happy moments of seniors before graduation. With five schools under contract, he found the need of opening a color lab to expedite the pictures he was taking. Other photographers began using his lab and Jim soon found himself with an additional business which he ran for many years.

Jim took a cue from a friend and left southern Florida and moved to the coastal town of New Smyrna Beach with stunning white beaches twenty minutes south of Daytona Beach.

Here he set up shop with a full portrait studio and continues to seize special High School senior moments for the two local high schools. And, he has discovered a new love – family beach portraits.

Jim’s keen eye behind the lens and the dedication for his craft gives the images he captures an artistic expression which makes them unique and timeless.
